I feel like I've been neglecting this..but I've been busy with school. They may not be daily updates, but I'll aim for at least once a week =). Day to be announced.
So I've been having a horrible time the last couple days. It seems that everything is going bad, starting with yesterday morning.
My teacher changed my placement for my training. She didn't discuss it with me or give me any other option, so I was ticked. I don't mind going to where she placed me, it's the fact that she never bothered to discuss it with me. Then, I was doing dishes when I got home, and broke 2 plates AND a glass.
Since things were really not going well, I decided to go to my parents' house. When I left my apartment, my bookbag broke (forcing me to have to buy a new one), and I got all the way to my parents' house and realized I didn't have my apartment keys with me. Hopefully when I get home tomorrow night, my roommates will be there.

First Day
Today was my first day of school. I'm starting my second semester of Special Care Counselling and I absolutely love it! The last few programs I've taken at college, I've always given up after one semester. I think I've found the right one though. It comes naturally to me and I'm good at it. I feel really "at home" with this program, whereas with the others, I never really felt like it. I'm pretty sure this is what I'm meant to do in life.

Moving Day
Yesterday was a crazy day. So crazy I didn't have time for my blog! I moved out of my parent's house and into a family friend's apartment for school. Why? Because it's close to school (15 min. walk/3 min. bus ride vs. 30 min. drive to and from school), it gets me out of my parent's house (I'm 21, I need to start thinking about this stuff) AND it makes me a little more independent.
The first night was really crazy...it's incredible how much stuff a person can accumulate in their room! Just packing it and unpacking it was a little crazy. The car was absolutely full, and my mom needs to drop some more stuff off today.
For the most part, I'm all settled in my room, just need to organize things some more and place a few more things where I want them, but other than that, it should be okay.
When was the last time you moved?

One Step At A Time - Jordin Sparks
I just got home from an awesome night and I'm in a feel-good mood, so I decided to post these lyrics:
Hurry up and wait
So close, but so far away
Everything that you've always dreamed of
Close enough for you to taste
But you just can't touch
You wanna show the world, but no one knows your name yet
Wonder when and where and how you're gonna make it
You know you can if you get the chance
In your face as the door keeps slamming
Now you're feeling more and more frustrated
And you're getting all kind of impatient waiting
[Chorus:]
We live and we learn to take
One step at a time
There's no need to rush
It's like learning to fly
Or falling in love
It's gonna happen when it's
Supposed to happen and we
Find the reasons why
One step at a time
You believe and you doubt
You're confused, you got it all figured out
Everything that you always wished for
Could be yours, should be yours, would be yours
If they only knew
You wanna show the world, but no one knows your name yet
Wonder when and where and how you're gonna make it
You know you can if you get the chance
In your face as the door keeps slamming
Now you're feeling more and more frustrated
And you're getting all kind of impatient waiting
[Chorus]
When you can't wait any longer
But there's no end in sight
when you need to find the strength
It's your faith that makes you stronger
The only way you get there
Is one step at a time
[Chorus x2]
Hurry up and wait
So close, but so far away
Everything that you've always dreamed of

Reading List Update: Night Runner
So today, I thought I would give you guys an update on my reading list post that can be found here.
As you know, the first book I've been reading on it is "Night Runner" by Max Turner. I have the paperback version (not sure if there's a hardcover version). It's retailed at $8.99 here in Canada, and has 300 pages.
To give you guys an idea of what the book is about, here is the summary:

For Zach Thompson, living in the Nicholls Ward wasn't so bad. After his parents died, he developed unusual and severe allergies, and the mental institution was the only place where he could be properly looked after. As strange as it seemed, it was home. His diet was restricted to strawberry smoothies, and being the only kid at the hospital did get lonely. But it never once crossed Zach's mind to leave...until he was visited by an enigmatic stranger who claimed to be his uncle and to know the real reason behind Zach's parents' death - and his mysterious sickness.

Italian Charm Watch
A couple weeks ago, I bought myself an Italian charm watch. For those of you who don't know what that is, remember those bracelets a few years ago, they were made out of metal, and stretchy..and you could change the links to put your own charms?
Like that? Well my watch is the same principle, except it has the watch part as well.
The store I bought it from doesn't carry Italian charms anymore. I looked all over town to see if I could find some, but I couldn't. It seemed like no one carried them anymore, so naturally I went scouring the Internet for some. Finally I found some and ordered them. I received them yesterday in the mail.
I ordered charms that were significant for me. I didn't just order any one that looked cute. I thought I would list the charms I got here and tell you guys why I bought them.

Bunny!
Today, I thought I'd introduce you to Bunny. Bunny is obviously the stuffed animal I'm holding in that picture. So, what's so special about some old, dingy stuffed animal? Let me tell you.
I've had Bunny my entire life, literally. The day after my mother gave birth to me, my father bought her (yes, it's a girl! lol) for me (from what I've been told). And I still have her.
I don't think I'm ever going to get rid of her. She's kind of a comfort for me. It sounds silly, but I don't know what I would do if I lost her. She's the oldest thing I have, but she's my most prized possession.
I think it's more the fact that it was my first gift ever from my father than the fact that I've had her my whole life. I treasure Bunny so much because she's from my father, whom I love and respect deeply.
Do you have anything from your childhood that you've kept and never thrown out?

Is He Making You Happy?
"Forget about him and his good qualities. Even forget about his bad ones. Forget about all his excuses and what he promises. Ask yourself one question only: Is he making you happy?"
The above quote came from the book "he's just not that into you: your daily wake-up call" by Greg Behrendt and Liz Tuccillo, and is the inspiration for this post. Is he making you happy?
It's so easy to make excuses for a person, especially if you're really attached to them. I myself have made excuses for people in the past, focusing on their good qualities and the fact that I was attached to them. But in the end, I had to sit and think whether or not they were really making me happy.

Losing The Battle For Change
For Christmas, my mother bought me a day-by-day calendar (the kind where you rip off the page each day) since I've always wanted one. The particular one I have is one where each day, there is a quote or little nugget of advice.Today's piece of advice is the topic of this blog. Here's what it says:
"Whenever we are attached to having something a certain way, better than it already is, we are engaged in a losing battle."

Sunrise, Sunset
I'll be the first to admit that I am hardly ever awake to see a sunrise. However, it is one of my favorite times of the day.
I've seen many sunrises in my life while travelling with my father. Usually when we take our trips to Ontario, we leave in the middle of the night, or very early the next morning. This way, we get to experience the sun rising.
I love sunrises because of the beautiful colors they create in the sky. Orange, red, purple, pink: they're all gorgeous. The best part about it is that I have never seen two sunrises that looked the same. Each one is unique and amazing.

A Real, True Friend
First of all, I have to say that the inspiration for this post came from reading Kerry's blog on family. Here is the link if you want to check it out: http://floatlikeabuttahfly.blogspot.com/2011/01/family.html I've been reading her blog all week, and this one in particular really caught my attention. She talks about people who aren't related to us who are like family...and that is what this blog will be about. In specific, it will be about the one person who has never, ever, let me down: my best guy friend (we'll call him Joe for the sake of this piece of writing).
Joe has been my best friend for as long as I can remember. We met when we were only 4 years old, and starting pre-kindergarten. Now, we're in our early 20s (I'm going to be turning 22 in April; he turned 22 in November), and he's still my best friend. As with many relationships, we have had our ups and downs, but throughout it all, our friendship has remained strong.

The Holidays Are Over
I can't believe how fast my winter break has gone by. My last day of school was December 7th, and I only had one exam on the 13th. It's hard to believe it's already the 7th of January. I'm starting a new semester on the 18th.
Having about 5 weeks off of school is amazing, but it can get a little boring if you don't have much to do. Luckily, I was busy most of that time with work, family and friends. It was nice to get away from school for a while, but in all honesty, I'm kind of missing school.

How I Met Your Mother - Season 6, Episode 13
For those of you who haven't watched the latest How I Met Your Mother episode, you may not want to read this post, unless you don't mind spoilers.
So I watched "Bad News" last night, and I was shocked. The ending was just...unbelievable. I never cried so hard in at a TV show. Mind you, I haven't been watching HIMYM very long, but during my winter break from school, I've caught up with all the episodes. We didn't see Marshall's father very often in the series, but when Lily told Marshall his father died, the waterworks came. It was mostly this face that did it:

Gone Going
After about an hour of trying to think of what to post on my blog today, I heard the song "Gone Going" by The Black Eyed Peas.

Reading List
I am a total and complete bookworm. I've never counted all the books that I own, but I'm sure it's in the hundreds (there isn't even enough room in my bedroom for all of them! some of them are in my parents' room). I've enjoyed reading ever since I started school. There is just something about books that I can't seem to find anywhere else. They draw me in and take me to a whole different world.

My parents have Facebook?
Almost everyone in the world knows or has heard of Facebook. It is a great social networking site that can keep you in touch with people you went to school with, coworkers, family, and just about anyone you know. I myself have been using Facebook for about 3 years.
While talking to some friends a few months ago, the topic of parents on Facebook came up. There were mixed opinions on the subject. Some had parents who had an account, but they didn't want to add their mother or father to their friend list. Others thought just having a mother or father with a Facebook account was weird. Then there were the ones like me, whose parents have an account and are on my friends list.
Personally, I don't see what the big deal is with having my parents as Facebook friends. They both have their own set of friends and don't really bother with my profile too much. Yes, occasionally they will go on my page, but for the most part, they pretty much stay out of my business if I ask them to. I think that it will be a great thing to have once I move out in a couple weeks, because it's just one more way I know I can stay in touch with them.

Resolutions
A new year has started, and everyone seems to be making resolutions. Normally, I don't even bother taking the time to make resolutions because I know I won't keep them. This year, I wanted to be different. Since I haven't made any resolutions in a few years, I decided to list them here.
-Blog more.
-Go after what I want.
-Keep doing well in school.
-Stop procrastinating.
That's it. Those are really the only things I resolve to do.
What are YOUR resolutions?
